Garnet Vision is the spacial immersive display which covers full solid angle of view. The viewer is totally enclosed
by twelve rear-projection screens. Rear-projection screen requires large backyard. We set criteria in order to
optimize space utility of the display system : pixel efficiency and space efficiency. Pixel efficiency means how
many pixels from a projector are displayed on each polygon to overall dead volume of backyard of rear-projection
screen. Through examination of these criteria, rhombic dodecahedron is chosen. Rhombic dodecahedron is chosen from
various polyhedrons, which maximize space utility. The participant of GarnetVision goes into the dodecahedron screen. He/she can rotare on a transparent floor and sees full solid angle view. Viewers outside the screen can see half of the rhombic screens, so that they can enjoy the image. |
